FAQ

Where is your office located?

My office is located at 3823 East SR 64, Bradenton.

Do you take insurance?

I’m on a few insurance panels, but most insurance companies find reasons not to pay for therapy – or anything else! I’ll give you forms to send to your insurance company to attain reimbursement.

What do you charge for psychotherapy?

I charge $200.00 per session. A couple of sliding scale spaces are available for special situations.

What do you charge for psychological or psychoeducational evaluations?

Psychoeducational evaluations are a lengthy multiple day process. The standard fee is $2,000.00 for an evaluation. You can discuss your specific needs with me when we speak on the phone.

What ages of children do you treat?

Generally, I treat children 4 – 22 years old. On occasion, I have seen children as young as 2 years of age.

What modalities do you use to treat clients?

I try to be as practical as possible. I was trained in cognitive behavioral and behavioral techniques. Over the years, I’ve done extensive training in mindfulness, trauma, pediatric medical psychology, and developmental disabilities.

How often do you see your clients?

It depends on the child, family, and their needs. Typically, I see patients every other week to give them time to try recommended interventions.

Do you only see children or the parents as well?

I often see parents alone to discuss their concerns and parenting practices. Sometimes, parents chose to see me for their individual challenges as well. Further, it’s hard to treat a child without communicating with his parents. I often see children and families together.

With teens, it can be more complicated to maintain rapport. It will depend on the situation. I will always tell parents if their child is in danger. At times, particularly when there are communication or relationship issues, treatment will include family therapy sessions.

My child may need many different treatments for her disabilities. How can I know which ones are the most important?

In addition to my own sons, I’ve had years of experience helping families navigate the maze of disability treatments. I’ve learned that given good, better, and best choices, sometime good is good enough.

I will help you prioritize therapeutic treatments.

I’m afraid you’ll tell me I’m a bad parent, or I ruined my child?

I have made plenty of parenting mistakes with my 3 sons! The only thing worse than not knowing how best to help your child is to be a child psychologist who doesn’t know what to do!

One of the best compliments past clients have given is that I’m very nonjudgmental.

Can you help my child be happy?

I sincerely hope so. Even better, I’ll teach you and your child how to be happier.

It took me years to learn how to have more fun with my children. I am eager to share my knowledge with you and your family.
